COLD WAR

PUSHING BLACK OPS INTO A DARKER, MORE CONNECTED ERA

With Black Ops Cold War, the challenge grew beyond defining the look of a single mode or experience. I helped create a stronger creative throughline across campaign, multiplayer, Warzone, UI, and post-launch content, pushing a darker period-driven visual language and a more visceral approach to combat. That vision became a cross-disciplinary effort spanning design, art, animation, effects, engineering, and MTX, all working toward a more cohesive and immersive player experience.

CREATIVE INTENT

By the early 1980s, the Cold War had become a conflict fought as much in the shadows as on the battlefield through espionage, proxy wars, propaganda, and influence. It was the perfect world for Black Ops: covert operatives working behind enemy lines, then dropping into combat that felt chaotic, visceral, and unpredictable. The goal was to capture the secrecy, danger, technology, and swagger of the era without turning it into a documentary or leaning on nostalgia and cliché. It needed to feel grounded in its time, but still heightened and unmistakably Black Ops.
